Character Name: Dirk Strider.
Age: 16
Personality: Dirk tends to be a big show-off about himself. He loves more than anything to subtly (or "ironically") praise himself or brag about his achievements. He is usually very proud or arrogant about himself.
As one can see from his self-confidence, Dirk is very self-assured and laid back. He takes a semblance of enjoyment in sarcasm and subtle insults, sometimes passing them off as mis-worded compliments. Occasionally he'll end up rambling about himself or others, turning entire conversations into tangents.
Despite his somewhat eloquence (although he likes to talk a lot, it is nowhere near the lengthiness of some of his classmates - see Rose), he manages to mostly stay on topic and remembers things well. He is especially more focused than his younger brother Dave.
Dirk prides himself on being aloof and confident. If he isn't, he doesn't show this side of him to anybody, not even his brother. He is also surprisingly quick-witted - his quips tend to sting more than his brother's, and usually make a lot more sense.
He is also very good at robotics and science/technology in general. He enjoys tinkering with half-built robots strewn throughout his room and sparring with them, and one of his most commonly spewed ego trips is how he has built an entire self-responding, sentient personality in his perpetually-worn anime shades. Whether or not this is true remains to be seen.
Dirk has a multitude of ironic hobbies and quirks. A lot of things he does are so ironic that they are beyond irony. It's ironyception up in this biznatch.
He collects
He is vaguely aware of his little brother's various references and allusions to him. They do nothing to lower his already-large ego. He enjoys it a lot, and is somewhat proud of his little brother. He often over-exaggerates himself and participates in absurd behavior simply to toughen up his brother. He even fights him sometimes, and even more likely sets his robots on him. It's great training, he finds. One day, he believes, Dave will be worthy of the Strider name.
Despite his many arrogant and prideful attributes, Dirk woks first and foremost for his friends in his escapades. He prides himself on reading up and being prepared for anything he or his friends get into, and always helps them out before he himself tries out something new. Most of the time, his true benevolence can't even be noticed under such a layer of self-confidence and subtle sarcasm, not to mention his various bro puns. But they are not to be ignored.
One of Dirk's most disturbing attributes is his unhealthy love for puppets and, even scarier, puppet pornography. He keeps colorful, naked puppets around his room and the house, and various cameras and film to record them doing various distasteful acts. He even keeps various puppet porn websites, bringing in enough income for him to support himself and Dave. The rest he usually spends on more puppets, video games, and/or music creating tools. He's very proud of this.
Biography: Dirk himself doesn't even know his mother, and vaguely knows his older "Bro". No mention of his father is ever made, although he secretly suspects his Bro is his father. He doesn't even like calling Bro Bro, but Dave has been doing it since he could talk, so he adopted the term, too.
His Bro is always gone doing whatever it is he does. Dirk finds it better to not inquire about his hobbies. His puppet porn gives him enough income to support himself and Dave, and last year moved from their apartment in Houston to New York, where he entered Roosevelt High. He didn't tell Dave about the move at all, to keep him on his toes. He was mildly disappointed to find that it took Dave an entire school year to find out where he went.
Quirk Sample:
There really isn't much to sample, bro. Just a totally chill quirk here, yo.
Not even sure if it can be called a quirk, that's how downright normal it is.
Normalcy of this level shouldn't even be legal. What a rebel.
